Made for the traditional dress of women in Tehuantepec, Mexico, this updated vintage embroidered skirt dates from the 1940s-50s and is a beautiful work of Mexican textile art. Featuring a modern waistband that has been added to make the skirt more wearable - the skirt snaps into place at the natural waist. Frida Kahlo frequently wore these traditional Mexican skirts and tops, and they are beautiful items to collect and wear.
The skirt is set on a thick yet soft forest green velvet which is backed with an adorable blue polka dot print cotton lining. It features an all-over floral motif with several large flowers and roses (ranging in size from about 2" to 5" each). The original white lace underskirt has been detached to make the skirt more wearable.
