This is one truly fabulous textile! Produced by the "Maya de Mexico" brand, these skirts were popular keepsakes for traveling tourist gals during the 1940s and 1950s. These handmade skirts were typically made of natural fibers and dyes, and were almost always made by the local indigenous peoples, whose communities are concentrated in the center and south of the country in states such as Mexico State, Oaxaca and Chiapas.

A beautiful and wearable travel keepsake, this sweet and simple cream embroidered Mexican skirt is easy to wear and looks great during all seasons, summer or fall. The skirt features several strong graphic patterns, including a chevron pattern stitched onto the waistband. Made of a hand dyed black cotton canvas, there is also metallic gold thread stitching throughout.
