Rare Antonio Castillo (house of Lanvin) 1960s Red & Black Plaid Wool Coat
Castillo, together with Pierre Balmain, Cristóbal Balenciaga, and Christian Dior, was considered one of the most promising of the new generation of Paris designers to emerge after World War II.
In 1950, Castillo joined the fashion house of Lanvin. From 1950-62, Castillo worked at the salon and was known for designing elegant clothes, slender lines, long flowing skirts in rich fabrics, and elaborate embroideries. In 1962, Castillo left Lanvin and in 1964 opened his own fashion house in Paris which is the era that this coat is from.
This rare vintage Castillo coat features a gorgeous slim silhouette and an asymmetrical point collar. Large shiny black lucite buttons adorn the double breasted coat. Fully lined, lovely wool boucle fabric. Original tag.
