The tailoring of 1940s jackets and tops really can't be beat. Made of a soft and luscious black velveteen fabric, this 1940s jacket top has lots of great details. With 11 original 1940s buttons made of brass and purple enamel, it can be worn open or closed depending on the style you want to go for. A lovely hand finished silk ruffle detail adorns the collar, sleeves and hem of this jacket and if you look closely, you can see that the button holes alternate in colored stitching from pink to yellow to purple.

This jacket is in excellent vintage condition and has been professionally cleaned. It is unfortunately missing one of its original buttons; the very last button. You could always remove the top button and place at the bottom (I will include a vintage brass button that you may use instead, but I kept it as is because I like it better without). Luckily there are 11 buttons to compensate for the lack of the one button!

Size: 4/XS. Fits my mannequin size 4 really nicely.

Measurements (measured with the jacket fully buttoned and closed):
Bust: 32"-34"
Armpit to armpit measurement: 18" or 36" doubled
Waist: 15" across, 30" doubled
Length: 16"
Bottom hem: 16" across, 32" doubled
Shoulder to shoulder: 15-16"

Mannequin's Measurements: (size 4)
Shoulder to shoulder: 15"
Bust: 34"
Waist: 25"

Era:
True Vintage, 1940s

Label: there are two labels: "Original Design Patented" and "A Junior Miss Registered Original Design. F.O.G.A."

Condition: Excellent vintage condition and has been professionally cleaned. It is unfortunately missing one of its original buttons; the very last button as noted above. Some of the enamel has worn off on 2 buttons. There are some nicks in the fabric from when the buttons were originally attached by safety pins from when it was stored. The fabric is black so you don't see them. There are no other holes, stains, tears, odors, or moth bites. It is clean, really soft, strong, ready to wear! It was in an attic when we found this jacket - it hasn't been worn since the 1940s!
