A true 40's stunner, this dress holds such sweet accents and charming details. As was common in the 40s, this dress features a fun novelty print of penguins and books promoting lightheartedness and literature. The novelty prints and construction of dresses out of rayon, was a direct protocol under the rations of WWII. Since the country was at war, rayon became the preferred fabric to construct garments due to the decrease and inability to import higher quality fabrics such as silk. The presence of fun novelty prints came as a method of uplifting the American people during wartime. The dress is light and beautifully tailored with a trimmed peplum skirt, which cinches the waist and floats out to fall alongside the longer length of the dress. At the back, a quaint detail of buttons acts as a closure for the peplum. Featuring a sweet V-Neck and neck ribbon, this dress as bundles of charming accents that only add to its historic past.
